Welcome to The Adventures of Heather!
Hi! My name is Heather and I am 29. I live in southwestern Virginia with my dogs. I compete in dog sports, so a lot of my life stems from them. I also enjoy cooking, reading, and drinking coffee. I am learning to love fitness and am figuring out this whole fitness and health journey.
I am also a hobby photographer, and am trying to add more of it into my life. I live with an autoimmune disease – Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. It is mostly an invisible illness, but I’m learning what helps give me the good days! To help my symptoms, I avoid gluten, dairy, and soy. I work with a functional medicine MD, so we are working on finding root causes vs. throwing pills at all of the symptoms. It is difficult, but I believe it is well worth it!
I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2010, with a degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics – with a focus in Financial Planning. I graduated from Averett University in 2014, with my MBA, and in 2017 I added a focus in HRM.
I currently work in financial planning, but I often find myself looking for my why and wondering if there is something else that, for me, would feel like more of a purpose.
